The General Counseling program consists of primarily traditional once a week, 50 minute therapy sessions with individuals, family or couples. An array of services are provided including:
Counseling and Play Therapy are facilitated by Master Level practitioners or by closely supervised graduate students earning a Master's Degree in Counseling or Social Work from a local university. The therapist and client schedule a mutually agreed upon time to meet each week. An Outcome Plan, with goals for therapy or skills development, is established during the first session. Clients are encouraged to commit to the change process, training or treatment until goals are met and there is an overall increase in functioning and/or a reduction of pre-treatment symptomology. Our service providers can also suggest referrals and help link clients to other resources. Counseling and other services are available evenings and Saturdays by appointment.
Children First provides support and relief to victims of child abuse, domestic violence and other crimes without regard to ability to pay. We are able to provide these services through the use of government grants, United Way funding, foundation grants and private donations.
